It is that time again on Friday, September 17th: in the heart of the capital the new theatre and dance programme of the upcoming season is presented. It is the opportunity for theatregoers and those interested in dance and theatre of all ages to have a look into the events and to meet living artists. For the little ones, there will be face painting, the older ones can discover the programmes of the theatres… On Friday, September 17th, theatres, cultural centres, theatre and dance companies, as well as artists and technicians of the Grand Duchy will meet lovers of the performing arts, families and passers-by of all ages in the centre of Luxembourg, to open the theatre and dance season 2021/22.  At the Place Émile Hamilius, the pulsing heart of the capital, visitors can discover the colorful programme of the THEATER FONDATIOUN.

Networking opportunity

After four successful years in the city centre, the event emphasizes again on direct contact with the visitors. As part of the opening of the theatre and dance season in Luxembourg, cultural workers and representatives of theatres, cultural centres and companies invite the audience to discuss at their stands, to socialise and above all to discover the upcoming season.

From 2pm to 6.30pm, lovers of dance and theatre can meet with artists and technicians, who they usually see on and around the stage, while potential lovers of the theatre and curious people can buy the programmes and brochures of the different institutions. It does not matter if you only have a few minutes, if you are waiting for a bus or tramway at a nearby stop, only passing by or you want to stay longer at the theatre festival – everyone is welcome. The event is an ideal opportunity to meet those people, who make the performing arts in Luxembourg alive. Come and meet them, ask about their season, their upcoming projects, their work, their vision for theatre and dance…

A musical afternoon

The three musical groups La Fanfare Couche-Tard, Ça Gaze and Les Frères Lapoisse will animate the event throughout the whole afternoon with their “cheerful, powerful Balkan folk music”, their “French marching music trio” and their “two-man rock’n’roll folk”.

Face painting

During the whole afternoon, young and old can let themselves get put on make-up by the make-up artist MADmoiselle, who paints faces, arms and even backs of hands with theatrical, fairy-like or animal-like themes with pleasure.
