After complications in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Séibühn Association can finally welcome visitors to their first edition of the WaterWalls festival in Esch-Sur-Sûre from 17 July to 25 September. Artistic performances will take place on 5 different stages and locations following the river. Art installations will be shown within the landscape, combining art with its environment.
The festival is based on the theme of ‘Natural Borders’ containing events such as installations, performances, unique projects, workshops and also outdoor experiences. It’s a unique “Cradle to cradle” cultural festival, focusing on sustainability and the principles of circular economy, with a philosophy on the 3 Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle. WaterWalls will try to educate its visitors on environmental issues through playful, participatory and educational ways.
5 different locations will be used to present 5 different projects:
(1) The collaboration of Yo Studio and LAGERKULTUR will present their project called STAU, aiming to include clubbing culture within the environment of the Sûre valley.
(2) Justine Blau and Stéphane Ghislain Roussel’s project is called Ressac|re, dealing with the relationship between man and nature and the fertility of the environment.
(3) MAD TRIX together with Ruth Lorang, Damiano Picci, Olivier Lang and Cédric Fischer, present the Nénuphars (Waterlilies), an interactive art installation able to move and produce sounds.
(4) Serge Ecker and Giacomo Piovan’s Floating Pixel.
(5) Marco and Fábio Godinho’s Offrir quelques mots à la rive (Offering a few words to the shore) inviting visitors to talk into a megaphone placed on a footbridge, or simply let the wind blow into it.
