At Vianden Castle, the Milites Viennenses organise 3 different animations on the theme of the Middle Ages. Historical cuisine, ingredients, tastes: In the large kitchen, kitchen utensils will be presented and dishes and spices will be prepared. The presentation will explain to the visitors how food was obtained and processed. Military life in the 17th century: Visitors can marvel at the soldier’s equipment in the Thirty Years’ War, guard rounds, drill and shooting demonstrations.
The castle’s defence system will also be explained during guided tours. Embroidery in the 13th century – The story of Yolanda of Vianden: In the great hall, visitors can admire the art of 13th century carpet embroidery and at the same time learn about the legend of Yolanda through the scenes depicted on the canvas.

- From August 28th to September 19th you can also find the “DemokratieLabo” in the castle of Vianden. From 10am to 6pm visitors can learn more about democracy during this interactive exposition by the Zentrum fir politesch Bildung. You can find more information here.
